Specializations

Our IPM Master's program offers two specializations. Below, you can find detailed information about each option to help you choose the right path for you.

Development Process Engineering (DPE) 

This specialization focuses on improving product development processes to speed up time-to-market. DPE professionals manage and optimise the flow of information in the R&D process and design the right information systems for innovation. 

Program Content

This specialization includes courses such as Virtual and Augmented Reality, Product Lifecycle Management, Model-Based Engineering, Multi-Project Management, Simultaneous Engineering, Reverse Engineering, Digital Factory, and R&D Controlling. 

Career Opportunities 

Development Process Engineers coordinate new product development activities, collaborating with suppliers, development partners, and customers. Their responsibilities may include: 

  • Designing and implementing efficient, integrated development processes with optimal information flow between all stakeholders. 
  • Tracking key project performance indicators, including resources, cost, schedule, quality, and technology. 
  • Presenting results in project development and design reviews. 
  • Conducting feasibility studies. 
  • Creating and maintaining specification lists, technical specifications, and tolerances. 
  • Planning and overseeing external design and analysis tasks. 
  • Evaluating existing processes and developing forward-looking solutions. 

Product Concept Design (PCD)

This specialization focuses on designing sustainable, future-oriented products and systems. It teaches students to integrate all relevant design factors into the innovation process, preparing them to lead creative and sustainable product development. 

Program Content

This specialization includes courses such as Design & Prototyping, Drawing Techniques, Design Theory, Computer-Aided Industrial Design, Strategic Design, and several design projects. 

Career Opportunities

Product Concept Designers develop innovative products and design concepts, ensuring the integration of all design-relevant factors in the development and innovation process. As key members of innovation teams, their responsibilities may include:

  • Managing all design activities within the company and working at the interface between product development and corporate strategy.
  • Defining and presenting clear, tangible product alternatives and concepts to support strategic business decisions.
  • Enhancing the creative potential of teams and fostering a culture of innovation within the organization.
  • Promoting sustainable innovation through effective internal and external communication of future-oriented product concepts.
  • Showcasing the company’s innovation potential to stakeholders, including investors and strategic partners, to support business growth and decision-making.
