Opportunities for International Experience
There are several ways to gain international experience during your studies:
- A semester abroad at a partner university
- An internship abroad
- A research stay abroad
- Intensive or short-term programs
If you have questions about studying or working abroad, the best point of contact is the International Office at your campus. If you are unsure whether an international stay fits into your current degree program, speak with your program director.
Funding Programs
Studying abroad naturally involves costs, and not everyone can easily afford them. Fortunately, there are several funding programs available so that financial difficulties do not prevent you from gaining this valuable experience.
Erasmus+
Erasmus+ is probably the best-known funding program for international mobility. It provides grants for individuals (and organizations) who meet the necessary requirements. In addition, the Green Erasmus program supports students who want to practice sustainability beyond their own national borders.
Stipendium.at
The Austrian Student Grants Authority offers financial support for study periods abroad, among other funding opportunities.
OeAD
OeAD provides a comprehensive list of grants and scholarships for people who wish to study outside Austria.
EF – Education First
This is not a financial support program but rather an organizational support service. EF helps participants prepare for a new culture, supports them throughout their time abroad, and assists them with their return journey.
European Solidarity Corps
Although not directly related to your studies, the European Solidarity Corps offers another opportunity to gain experience abroad. Young people aged 18 to 30 living in Europe can participate in social and volunteer projects in other countries and contribute to meaningful causes.
Your stay is financially supported, so you do not have to worry about covering your living expenses while volunteering abroad.
