Anyone looking for a higher qualification in the IT sector alongside their job can choose from a variety of degree courses at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria in Hagenberg, which are both perfectly organized for working life and have their finger on the pulse of the times in terms of content. These include our part-time degree courses in Software Engineering (Bachelor), Energy Informatics (Master), Human-Centered Computing (Master), Information Engineering and Management (Master) and Information Security Management (Master).

Our Part-Time Study Program

  • Bachelor Degree Program Software Engineering (SE)
    This course provides know-how for the entire software development cycle: from problem analysis, design, implementation and testing to maintenance and further development.
  • Master Degree Program Information Engineering and Management (IEM)
    The focus is on software development, business intelligence and analytical IT as well as organizational, legal and social skills. Based on this expertise, information systems can be professionally planned, developed and analyzed in which user orientation, data sharing and the achievement of strategic corporate goals are optimally guaranteed.
  • Master Degree Program Human-Centered Computing (HCC)
    This degree course specializes in the design and development of user-friendly IT systems, such as those required for assistance systems in cars, the control of industrial plants and the technical support for impaired or elderly people. It combines content from IT and the human sciences, such as interaction design, sensor technology, image processing, natural user interfaces, design thinking and prototyping.
  • Master Degree Program Information Security Management (ISM)
    This degree program trains experts in information security. It combines content from the fields of technology, information security management, risk management, law & compliance and social skills.
  • Master Degree Program Energy Informatics (ENI)
    This degree program provides know-how for the development of intelligent IT solutions for an efficient and sustainable energy supply as well as future smart grids and smart city infrastructures.

Ideally Suited to Working Life

Employment is easily compatible with the above-mentioned degree courses. Courses usually take place on Friday afternoons or evenings and Saturdays. There are also occasional block courses. The exceptions are Information Security Management (ISM) and, since the 2023/24 academic year, Energy Informatics (ENI): Here, there are individual blocked attendance weeks each semester and distance learning is used intensively.

Study in Dual Form at the Campus Hagenberg

In the fall of 2020, the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria expanded its range of courses at the Hagenberg campus for working people or anyone who wants to combine studying and working but does not want to study part-time: The full-time Bachelor's degree in Hardware Software Design (HSD) is now also offered in dual study form. This is the first dual study program in Upper Austria in the field of computer science and information technology. The study period is divided into theoretical parts at the university of applied sciences and alternating practical phases in the company.
