What we offer

The TIMed CENTER of the FH OÖ is looking for partners in science and industry with whom medical technology projects can be realised. We offer access to our core facilities to promote this cooperation.

The Core Facilities of the TIMed CENTER

Core facilities are centralised, shared resources for research and development. These include high-end instruments, cutting-edge technologies and state-of-the-art methods, as well as consulting and services that can be used to tackle complex issues. In the six core facilities with their different scientific specialisations, our partners can conduct their own research or have commissioned projects carried out.

Medical 3D-Nanolithography for Additive Manufacturing

In the TIMed CENTER Core Facility ‘Medical 3D nanolithography for additive manufacturing’ at the FH OÖ Campus Linz, biocompatible 3D scaffolds are produced that consist of chemically functional polymers. In this context, the methods of multiphoton and UV lithography are used. Both technologies make it possible to produce 3D structures in the micro- to nanoscopic range.

Nanoscopic Characterization of Cellular Processes

The TIMed CENTER Core Facility ‘Nanoscopic Characterization of Cellular Processes’ focuses on the biomolecular mechanisms that underlie biology and medicine. High-resolution single-molecule fluorescence microscopy is used to observe specific molecules in living cells, tissues or organisms. Super-resolution microscopy and molecular biology techniques are also used to characterise biomolecules.

Dynamics and Interactions of Bio-Nano-structures

Protein dynamics, molecular interactions and conformational changes are investigated in the TIMed CENTER Core Facility ‘Dynamics and Interactions of Bio-Nano-structures’. This is done in real time and under physiological conditions. In addition to combined fluorescence and atomic force microscopy, force spectroscopy and ensemble methods are used to collect data for the creation of a comprehensive molecular process model for drug development.

Medical Simulators

The TIMed CENTER Core Facility ‘Medical Simulators’ develops mixed reality simulators consisting of artificial anatomical structures, a computer model for simulating common imaging procedures and surgical instruments equipped with sensors. These are designed to help future doctors improve their diagnostic and surgical skills. All our simulators are biomechanically and medically validated.

Bioactive Ingredients Research

The TIMed CENTER Core Facility ‘Bioactive Ingredients Research’ at the FH OÖ Campus Wels aims to establish phytamines as an alternative to conventional active substances. To this end, phytamines are identified, characterised and analysed with regard to their physiological effects. The latter is carried out in suitable in-vitro and in-vivo test systems. The influence of plant components and their constituents is analysed at the levels of biophysics, biochemistry and molecular and cell biology

Bioinformatics and Image Processing

The TIMed CENTER Core Facility ‘Bioinformatics and Image Processing’ creates the basis for the management and integration of biological data and develops various analyses for this data. In order to automate the analyses of biomedical or molecular biological data, algorithms and intelligent software systems are programmed at the FH OÖ Faculty of Hagenberg. The facility's range of services also includes the simulation of biological processes.
