Projects

From the start, students put their knowledge into practice through industry projects. IPM’s strong ties with key industry players, who are involved in everything from curriculum development, providing case studies to internships, ensures our curriculum is directly aligned with professional practices, blending academic learning with essential practical training.

Industry Cooperation Projects

Throughout their studies, students apply their knowledge in practical settings by collaborating with some of the region's most innovative companies. These partnerships may take the form of case studies or hands-on projects, providing real-world experience and valuable industry insights.

Design Project - KEBA

Throughout the semester, students focused on improving the accessibility and efficiency of public services in collaboration with KEBA. Their efforts culminated in a series of impactful presentations, showcasing innovative solutions designed to enhance public service delivery.

New Business Development - ATTA

The project aimed to explore new business avenues for a mushroom cultivation system manufacturer. Students devised business models for lion's mane-enhanced beverages, investigated expanding into insect breeding systems, and examined potential collaborations with farmers and the emerging psychedelic therapy market.

New Business Development - Manufactury

The project aimed to uncover new business opportunities for an organic casting material producer using 3D printed molds. After exploring various options, students focused their final validation experiments on developing educational toolkits for Austrian school pupils, enhancing practical learning with innovative materials.

Research Projects

Our students have the opportunity to join the university's research projects, often conducted in partnership with local companies. These projects enable them to delve into scientific research and develop innovative approaches that can be adopted by these companies.

Autonomous Innovation

This project explores the application of AI technologies throughout the innovation management process. Paul Scheichl conducted extensive interviews and focus groups with experts in AI and innovation management to determine how AI can enhance various innovation activities. The research team is now developing an AI assistant for innovation teams based on his findings.

sUser

This project focuses on creating educational materials that equip students with vital future skills such as systems thinking, ecological awareness, and user-driven design. Daniel Gotthardt was instrumental in reviewing existing educational methods and creating the innovative Design Challenge Navigator—a tool that guides students in tackling design challenges of varying complexities.

Agility Meets Industry

The project aimed to assist companies in adopting and scaling agile methodologies in their product development processes. Marlies Sallegger aided professors in creating an agility assessment tool, which was used to evaluate the current practices of five manufacturing companies and offer recommendations for enhancing their product development processes.

Sustainable Urban Transportation Solutions

Aso Ayatonabi's thesis was part of an FH Wels project focused on sustainable urban transportation. He designed, simulated, and manufactured a four-wheel electric bike, optimizing its performance using Simscape Multibody. His work combined hands-on prototyping with dynamic testing, contributing to the development of eco-friendly mobility solutions.

Student Internships

Internship provides you with an opportunity to put your knowledge into practice once again and test which future career path is best suited to you. Take a look at what some of our best students have achieved during their internships.

Olga Chuca

During her internship at BRP Rotax - Karting, Olga focused on analyzing spare parts management and demand across the product management phases. Her research explored effective strategies for optimizing inventory and demand forecasting, providing valuable insights into the efficiency of spare parts operations within the karting industry.

Carolin Bauer

During her internship at Lenzing AG, Carolin focused on sustainability and innovative product design, specifically targeting the environmental impact of single-use menstrual products. Her research delved into sustainable practices, highlighting the significant impact daily choices can have and the urgent need for increased awareness around menstruation sustainability.

Ana Cristina Avila

During her internship at Borealis, Ana worked in the InnoTech department, focusing on innovation and researching Agile methodologies to enhance their implementation in new projects. As an international student, she had the opportunity to gain firsthand experience in an Austrian company, complementing her work with global organizations.
