Application Process

Ready to start your journey at IPM? Please prepare the following required documents to ensure a smooth application process. Be sure to follow the guidelines closely to meet all submission standards.

Admission Requirements

  • Completed Bachelor's Degree: 180 ECTS or equivalent, preferably in Engineering or Industrial Design.*
  • English Proficiency: Minimum level B2 (IELTS Academic min. 6.0, TOEFL min. 78).

*Note: Successful applicants without a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Industrial Design can enroll in a 2-semester transfer program and commence the IPM master's program the following year. More details will be provided during the interview process if the application is successful.

Required Documents

  • Bachelor Certificate
  • Transcript of Records (of your Bachelor degree)
  • Passport and Birth Certificate
  • CV/Curriculum vitae
  • English Language Certificate: IELTS Academic (min. 6.0) or TOEFL (min. 78)
  • Secondary School Leaving Certificate ("A-levels", High School Diploma) (must be in English or German)
  • Filled Prerequisites Form

We do NOT accept letters from previous schools or universities stating that your high school or undergraduate program was completed in English.

German language proficiency is not required for admission, as all courses are conducted in English. However, you will have the chance to learn German during your studies, and having some prior knowledge of the language is an added advantage.

** If your original documents have not been issued in English, please make sure to upload scanned copies of your original documents with certified translations (either German or English).

Application Deadlines

  • Non-EU Citizens: May 31st
  • EU-Citizens: June 30th

  • Online Application: Complete the form and upload all required documents. Only complete applications can be submitted.
  • Document Verification: Applications are reviewed within 2-4 working days.
  • Interview: If eligible, a 15-minute MS Teams interview is scheduled.
  • Admission Decision: Applicants are informed within a few weeks after interviews are completed.
  • Legalization of Documents: International applicants granted preliminary admission must provide legalized documents, including the Bachelor degree and Transcript of Records, translated into English or German. Legalization is done by the Austrian diplomatic representative in the applicant's home country.
  • Visa Requirements: Admitted students are responsible for completing visa requirements for their stay in Austria. This process may take up to 3-6 months, depending on agreements between your country and Austria. Detailed information can be found on the OeAD homepage and the Welcome 2 Upper Austria webpage.
