Projects & Industry cooperation

The practical orientation of the program is based on the one hand on the structure of the curriculum with a relatively large number of integrated and practical courses and on the other hand on the close cooperation of the Automotive Mechatronics and Management programme with companies in the automotive industry, e.g
  • BRP Powertrain Rotax
  • CNH industrial Österreich
  • KTM Sportmotorcycle
  • LCM Linzer Center of Mechatronics
  • MAGNA Powertrain
  • MIBA
  • Pöttinger
  • Robert Bosch
  • Rosenbauer International
  • Wacker Neuson
  • ZKW

The cornerstones of this practice-oriented concept are field trips to these companies and expert talks with specialists from the automotive industry in the first semester. In the second semester, the students work in groups on real problems provided by an automotive company within the course "Company Project". At this point, students have the opportunity to connect with potential employers and apply for the upcoming projects in semesters 3 and 4. This process is supported by the program with various measures, such as a speed-recruiting event in the second semester. (see Fig. 1).

Therefore, from the third semester onwards, students ideally work for up to 12 months in a company or in an R&D institution and work on the projects (R&D project in the third semester, Master's thesis in the fourth semester) based on tasks relevant to the company. These projects must be well coordinated and correspond to the qualification profile of the degree programme. In order to ensure that the project can be carried out in the companies, there are no university courses on Mondays and Tuesdays in the third semester and no courses at all except for two weekend blocks in the fourth semester. The terms and conditions of employment are defined in a bilateral contract between each student and the company. It should be noted, that finding a suitable internship is the responsibility of the student.

AMM-students were very successful at the INNOVATION AWARD FH Wels.
