Review 2026 International Days in Social Work

Nearly 100 students and lecturers participated in the International Days in Social Work at the FH Upper Austria Linz Campus in June: 73 international students and lecturers from the field of social work and 24 students from the in-house master's degree program Social Work. The lecturers and students came from Belgium, Canada, Czechia, Finland, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Sweden, Thailand and the USA.

17 lectures and workshops took place, covering a wide range of different areas of social work. The World Café was especially well received on the first day with a presentation of all universities and countries including regional specialties.

The visitors also showed great interest in site visits to and presentations from different organisations:

• Neustart (Social Work with Offenders)
• BAGUA Café (Psychosocial drop-in center for leisure and social interaction)
• Violence Prevention & Support Center
• Notschlafstelle B37 (homeless night shelter)
• Verein ISI (Outreach Work)
• LENA (Social Work with Sex Workers)
• Debt Counseling Center Upper Austria

The cultural and social program also included a guided tour in English through the Ice Caves in Obertraun. Afterwards the Krippenstein mountain with the "five fingers" platform could be explored and back from the mountain there was time to visit the cultural heritage village of Hallstatt. 

Every year, a visit to the Mauthausen Memorial is also an essential part of the program. During a guided tour, students learn about the history of the former Mauthausen concentration camp and they also have the opportunity to explore the museum with the exhibitions at their own pace.
