Being a partner institution of Austrian High School in Querétaro , Mexico since 2019/20, the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria hosted for the first time a group of 11th grade students, who will graduate with Austrian Matura and a very good knowledge of German in a year. They will be able to choose between Austrian or European Union universities to continue their higher education.
As a part of their educational and vocational guidance program, the group of 13 students in the head of their two teachers, was able to visit universities in Vienna, Munich as well as the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, Wels Campus, gaining an insight into studying .
During their one- day visit students were shown various laboratories and infrastructure on the campus, discussed practical issues with a current IPM Bachelor student from Mexico. After that, divided into two small groups, the students participated in the practical workshops on 3D metal printing at the Centre for Smart Manufacturing and had an amazing virtual trip to Mars with FH-Prof.PD DI Dr.Wolfgang Steiner. These were the practical highlights of the visit. The group was enthusiastic about the program, its practical relevance and appreciated the state-of-the art equipment on the campus.
We do hope the students were able to get a good impression of studies at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria and we look forward to welcoming some of them in our study community next year.
