Studying in Hagenberg prepared me both creatively and technically for the challenges of the computer animation pipeline.

Paul Pammesberger, BSc MA

Head of Animation Department - Sony Pictures Imageworks

Paul Pammesberger completed the Bachelor’s degree in Media Technology and Design and then the Master’s program in Digital Arts in Hagenberg. He has been working at Sony Pictures Imageworks for more than seven years and has contributed to over eight computer-animated films. Starting as a Junior Animator on The Angry Birds Movie (2016), he earned his first Animation Lead credit for Smallfoot (2018) and now works as an Animation Supervisor on Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023).

Compositing is a technical profession, and I spend a lot of time at the computer. You need a certain understanding of programming, and you should also be creative and have a good visual eye, since you work a lot with colours. In my opinion, the University of Applied Sciences Hagenberg provides a very good foundation for this.
