Study focus

Tomorrow’s industrial systems will not be purely mechanical, electrical or digital – they will combine all of these elements.

DEIA gives you the interdisciplinary skills to understand, model and develop complex physical systems and enrich them with software, data and Artificial Intelligence. The programme follows an industry-first approach: technologies are always connected to real applications in product development, production, automation, quality, maintenance, logistics and industrial services.

Digital Engineering & Mechatronics

Build the engineering foundation for intelligent industrial systems.

You will deepen your understanding of mechatronic systems and learn to model, simulate and virtually test complex technical systems. Model-Based Engineering, simulation and Digital Twins help you understand system behaviour before physical implementation and support the development and optimisation of products, machines and production systems.

Topics include system development, modelling and simulation, sensors and actuators, system integration and Digital Twins.

Industrial AI

Learn how to turn industrial data into useful solutions.

Starting with programming, data processing, applied mathematics and Machine Learning, you will progressively move towards advanced Industrial AI applications. You will work with methods for classification, regression, clustering and model evaluation as well as Deep Learning, Computer Vision, time-series analysis and current AI developments.

The goal is not simply to train algorithms. You will learn how to identify valuable industrial AI use cases, understand the available data and integrate AI models into real technical environments.

Intelligent Physical Systems

Bring AI into the physical world.

Modern industrial systems connect sensors, actuators, embedded systems, software, industrial communication and AI. You will learn how these components interact within cyber-physical and intelligent physical systems.

Topics include industrial IT/OT architectures, IIoT, Edge and Cloud technologies, robotics, autonomous systems, virtual commissioning and Digital Twins. Safety, cybersecurity and reliable system integration are considered throughout.

Industrial Management, Leadership & Change

Technology creates impact only when organisations can successfully implement it.

DEIA therefore combines engineering and AI with project management, innovation, AI strategy, leadership and change management. You will learn how to evaluate technical solutions economically, build business cases and roadmaps and guide interdisciplinary digitalisation projects from idea to implementation.

Practical Projects

Throughout the programme, you will apply what you learn.

Early projects focus on developing and testing integrated systems and Industrial AI use cases. Later, you will work on more complex industrial challenges where technical feasibility, data, economic value, implementation effort and organisational factors all come together.

This integrated project approach prepares you for exactly the kind of interdisciplinary problems you will encounter in industry.
