Study Focus

The Joint Master’s program Digital Energy Solutions focuses on the digital, technical, economic, and regulatory transformation of modern energy systems. It is offered jointly by the Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU) and the FH Oberösterreich (FH OÖ).

The program’s study focus includes:

Energy systems in their entirety: generation, transmission, distribution, consumption, automation, and services.
Digital technologies for the energy sector: Data Spaces, Artificial Intelligence, IT security, software solutions, and data analytics.
Economic and regulatory frameworks: energy markets, finance, law, policies, and governance at European and international level.
Sustainability and innovation: circular economy, hydrogen and battery technology, energy meteorology, and corporate sustainability management.
Interdisciplinary integration: combining engineering, informatics, economics, and sustainability management to design and implement future-proof energy solutions.

Graduates are trained as “Energy Solutions Engineers” who can design, optimize, and manage sustainable, digitalized, and internationally networked energy systems across sectors such as industry, utilities, buildings, public administration, and research.

Application-oriented degree program

As a university of applied sciences, we work closely with both local and international industry and research partners. This enables our students to acquire cutting-edge practical know-how and thus be optimally prepared for their future careers.

Further interdisciplinary and applied research projects give students the opportunity to establish contacts in both research and industry already during their studies.
