"I chose the Global Salesand Marketing program based on a gut feeling. When I first came to Steyr, the campus and the location right by the river felt right for me. I have been able to develop personally and professionally here. What excited me about my studies was the practical content and collaboration with companies, where we could apply theoretical knowledge in practice, as well as the contact with professors and colleagues from around the world."
Currently, Jakob Reisinger is pursuing a master's degree in Paris, with study stays in Abu Dhabi, Singapore, and San Francisco.
Bachelor's Thesis: The Cultural Differences of Expanding Platform-based Businesses in China and Russia
"My thesis focuses on the cultural differences among platform-based businesses, such as Amazon, Alibaba, Yandex, etc. What makes my bachelor's thesis special is that I managed to provide a broad overview of platform-based companies, even though the focus of my work is on the cultural comparison between Russia, where I also spent my semester abroad, and China," said the award winner about his outstanding thesis.
Regarding the results: "The analysis of the current situation of the platform economy in the USA, China, and Russia has revealed the following situation: In each country, there is a national monopoly leading the market in its respective platform category. In my study, five platform categories were examined: search engines, social networks, online grocery delivery services, gaming platforms, and e-commerce marketplaces. However, I found an exception, namely the e-commerce market in Russia operates differently. It is more fragmented, which is likely due to the lack of logistical infrastructure and public investments by the state," said the author.
