Thinking outside the box - research collaborations broaden horizons

VFI Oils for Life in Wels, Austria's leading manufacturer of edible oils, and the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria in Wels have been working on joint research projects for several years. For an innovative family business with a high export share and rapidly growing B2B relationships, Wels University of Applied Sciences is an ideal partner for research cooperation. Application-oriented research with results that can be used directly by companies offers students a motivating and future-oriented perspective and innovation success for the company. VFI Oils for Life is best known in Austria for its traditional edible oil brands Bona, Kronenöl, Ceres, Frivissa and Osolio. These form an important anchor point on the Austrian domestic market. However, VFI Oils for Life is growing particularly strongly with the supply of lipid ingredients to food and infant formula manufacturers worldwide. Important topics include the avoidance of impurities and the investigation of the effects of additives to increase the oxidation stability of oils. Long-term research projects in the laboratories of VFI and the Wels University of Applied Sciences combine the expertise of both partners. VFI Oils for Life offers young researchers the opportunity to work on directly marketable projects and to accompany them on the path from research work to finished products. The well-equipped laboratory and further training opportunities offer R&D employees excellent prospects. Working in a successful medium-sized company with short decision-making paths, where respect and appreciation are truly lived, is fulfilling and motivating. Thanks to ongoing cooperation projects with the FH Wels and other research institutions, VFI experts stay in contact with specialist colleagues.
