Nature has a huge potential of substances and plant-based active ingredients, so-called phytamines. Corresponding natural extracts and plant substances with measurable biological effects are increasingly being used in modern medicine and nutrition for the prevention and treatment of diseases and may represent a potential alternative to conventional active ingredients in the future. For a targeted application it is of great importance to know and describe the basic molecular mechanisms of action. Our work therefore focuses on the identification and characterization of phytamines and research into their biological effects in suitable in-vitro and in-vivo test systems. In addition to basic research, we work with innovative partners from industry to develop functional foods, phytogenic feed additives and highly effective natural pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals.
