Erasmus+ Staff Training Visit Boosts a 10-Year Austrian–Estonian University Collaboration
From 26–29 January 2026, the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria welcomed nine staff from the Estonian University of Life Sciences through the Erasmus+ Staff Training programme, focusing on sharing expertise in engineering education, enhancing research cooperation, and advancing modern laboratory infrastructure.
The programme included introductory meetings with the university management, presentations of study programmes and key research topics, as well as discussions on future academic and administrative cooperations between the two institutions. Particular attention was given to key engineering fields such as production engineering, electricalengineering, robotics, innovation and product management,andgreen technologies, offering the visiting delegation a comprehensive overview of current activities in these areas at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria.
During their stay, the guests visited several specialised laboratories and research centres, where they received insights into facilities for 3D printing and smart manufacturing, hydrogen technologies, high-voltage testing, andbiosciences. They were also introduced to research projects focusing on food quality and safety, as well as initiatives in the fields of sustainability and “Green Science.”
In addition to the professional programme, informal networking opportunities were organised to encourage an open exchange of ideas and best practices between staff members of both universities. As a result of the visit, both institutions expressed strong interests in further strengthening their collaboration, particularly through staff mobility, joint research projects, and continued sharing of expertise in university management and innovation.
