From November 25 to December 5, 2024, the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, the School of Engineering, had the honour of hosting Thai guest Dr. Aoy Duangrudee, an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering from King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), who has been awarded the Exchange Program 2023/24 funding from the World Technology Universities Network (WTUN). Dr. Duangrudee's visit marked an exciting chapter in the strengthening of international research collaboration, particularly in the fields of Fluid Mechanics and Renewable Energy.
During her visit, Dr. Duangrudee delivered a series of five engaging lectures on the "Basics of Thermodynamics and Electrochemistry," providing the students and faculty of the university with valuable insights into these critical areas of engineering. These lectures were an excellent opportunity for knowledge exchange, addressing fundamental principles while also exploring their practical applications in the context of sustainable energy solutions.
As part of her visit, Dr. Duangrudee was introduced to the Civil Engineering Laboratory by Dr. Stefan Jaksch, where she had the chance to explore the university's state-of-the-art facilities and engage with faculty and students working on cutting-edge research projects. This interaction fostered further academic exchange and laid the groundwork for potential collaborative research initiatives.
In addition to her academic contributions, Dr. Aoy Duangrudee delivered an engaging presentation to the students about the exciting opportunities to visit Thailand in terms of academic exchanges, internships and study abroad programs. Her presentation gave the attendees a unique insight into Thailand’s rich cultural heritage, local festivities, engineering landscapes, and innovative contributions to global research.
To ensure Dr. Duangrudee's experience was well-rounded, the university organized a Campus Tour and a City Tour, allowing her to explore the beautiful surroundings and engage with students and faculty in a more informal setting. The visit was a wonderful blend of academic rigor and cultural exchange, leaving a lasting impression on both Dr. Duangrudee and the university community.
We are deeply grateful to Dr. Duangrudee for her invaluable contributions during her time here. Her visit has not only enriched the academic experience at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria but has also fostered an enduring partnership between our institutions. We look forward to continuing this fruitful collaboration in the future.
