Application

Exclusively via the online application platform. 
Application period for IFP 2027/28: October 2026 - April 30th 2027 for applicants without valid residence permit.

Required Documents:
- School leaving certificate**
- Proof of highest academic qualification (e.g. diplomas, transcripts)* 
- Copy of passport
- Motivation letter
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Proof of English language proficiency at B2 level, not older than 2 years (only IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge)

- Optional: Proof of German language proficiency (e.g. ÖSD, Goethe, DSD)

* Foreign documents must be properly certified according to the regulations of the issuing country and translated into German or English.
** In case your secondary education is not yet completed, the final certificate may be submitted later.
 

After submitting your online application, your educational background, work experience (if applicable), and motivation will be reviewed.

Successful applicants from the pre-selection phase will be invited to take the Mathematics Pre-Assessment, a mandatory online test of fundamental mathematical skills.

You will receive an email invitation with detailed instructions - please follow them.

You will be invited to an online interview (via MS Teams) if you have successfully passed 

- the pre-selection phase AND
- the Mathematics Pre-Assessment

The interview is a mandatory part of the application process and gives us the opportunity to get to know you better. Eligible applicants will receive an invitation to schedule an interview appointment. The available times will automatically be displayed in their local time zone.

Shortly after the interview, you will receive either a conditional offer or a rejection from us. 

Applicants recommended for admission by the Programme Director must purchase a Berlitz On Demand licence to start learning German before their arrival in Austria 

Licence fee: EUR 363 (+ VAT) providing unlimited access for 3.5! years

As soon as Berlitz confirms the purchase of your licence, you will be admitted to the International Foundation Programme.

Important: The official Letter of Acceptance can only be issued once all required educational documents have been properly legalized (detailed information regarding the legalization requirements will be provided by our International Admission Office)

Applicants without prior German knowledge:
Complete Level 1 on Berlitz On Demand (4 modules with an estimated workload of approximately 20 hours each).

Applicants with prior German knowledge (verified by an official German language certificate)
Make as much progress as possible on the platform. 

At the beginning of the programme, all students with advanced German knowledge will take a German placement test and will be assigned to a German course according to their level.
