Smart Engineering: Cutting edge engineering degree

In an era defined by rapid technological advancements, smart engineering integrates latest technology with traditional engineering principles to design solutions that are sustainable, groundbreaking founding the basis for a modern society. Robotics and automated production are key enabling technologies for the next decade and require a sound academic qualification. These international friendly bachelor’s degree program offers the unique opportunity to acquire not only a cutting-edge engineering degree but also German language skills and the possibility to enter the European high tech job market. The program offers two German taught specializations: automation engineering and mechanical engineering as wells as an English taught specialzation in branch electrical engineering. After successful completion, you will receive the degree from the bachelor’s degree program corresponding to the selected specialization: Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.

    The Smart Engineering Programme is a joint programme operated by the International Foundation Programme (Sem 1,2), the Electrical Engineering (Sem 3,4) and Automation Engineering (Sem 5 - 8) departments.

    Mixed: English & German: the International Foundation Programme (Sem 1,2) and the Electrical Engineering Basic Year (Sem 3,4) in English and specialization (Sem 5 - 8) in German

  • Access Requirements

    A-level/high school diploma or equivalent. 
    English at B2 level (IELTS or TOEFL)

  • Deadline for Applications

    Application start: December 1st, 2024
    Application deadline for EU-applicants and applicants with visa: June 30, 2025
    Application deadline for Non-EU-applicants: May 31, 2025.

  • Admission Process

    Online application and MS Teams interviews with pre-selected candidates

  • Internship

    at least 10 weeks, either in Austria or abroad

  • Costs

    Our university is publicly funded. Only a contribution to our running costs is collected from students: EUR 3.888,- for the first year. EUR 726,- for every additional semester (reduced by 50% for EU citizens)

Automation and mechanical engineers work in development departments, plant management, quality management, production, or technical sales. Thanks to the broad education in the fields of computer science, mechanical engineering, production engineering and electronics, they are in high demand in business and industry.
