Chemistry and physics for a sustainable future

Together, we understand how products are created and help shape the industry of tomorrow. Medicines. Food. High-tech materials. Energy. Hydrogen. Clean drinking water. Clean air. Behind all these topics lie highly sophisticated technical processes and the engineers who develop, improve, and rethink them. You’ll combine engineering, the natural sciences, and modern plant engineering to learn how high-quality products are created, how complex processes work, and how production facilities can be planned and operated more efficiently, safely, and in a way that conserves resources. Through two elective specializations, they can focus on and specialize in either process engineering or environmental engineering. After all, the industry of the future needs not only high-performance processes and plants - it needs smart solutions that bridge technology and the environment. Through this combination, graduates become problem solvers for an industry that is constantly evolving.

Future career

Graduates in environmental and process engineering think beyond the boundaries of their discipline. They work at the intersection of production, plant engineering, and environmental engineering. They take on responsibility for industrial innovation and are therefore in high demand. Whether as project, process, or operations engineers, or as environmental or sustainability technicians—the career opportunities for engineers with a strong background in process engineering and an additional understanding of environmental and sustainability issues range from the metal, paper, chemical, pharmaceutical, and food industries, through recycling and environmental engineering, to the construction of large-scale industrial plants.
