The degree program for a career in business

If you are interested in business but do not yet want to commit to a single field, Business Management & Economics provides the ideal foundation. The programme offers a broad understanding of companies, markets and economic interdependencies – with a strong practical and international focus. You will learn how different business functions work together to successfully develop, finance, produce and market products and services. Particular emphasis is placed on Social and Future Competencies such as teamwork, facilitating meetings, giving and receiving feedback, conflict management, negotiation, and the responsible and reflective use of data and AI. You will then choose two of four specialisations: Value Chain Management, Finance Management, Sales and Digital Marketing, or Digitalisation and Future Management. Practice-oriented projects with companies prepare you for a wide range of career paths in a globally connected economy.

Practical Experience and Research

Practical relevance shapes the degree program right from the start. Real-world case studies, business cases, simulations, and corporate projects connect academic foundations with concrete business challenges. In the final internship and the accompanying Bachelor’s thesis, students apply their skills in practice. At the same time, insights from applied research and current economic topics are directly integrated into teaching. In this way, students learn to thoroughly analyze problems, develop solutions, and justify decisions in a clear, well-founded manner.

Study Abroad

Business is international and does not stop at national borders. Therefore, internationality is a key part of the BME degree program. English as the main language of instruction, international students and lecturers, and culturally diverse teams create an exciting learning environment. Students develop intercultural skills through projects and courses and can further broaden their horizons through an optional semester abroad or other international experiences.

International students also acquire German language skills up to B2 level, preparing them for careers in Austria and the German-speaking world. After completing the Bachelor’s program, graduates can choose from various Master’s programs at the Steyr campus.

You can apply at any time and submit your school-leaving certificate at a later date - even in autumn if necessary.

Is prior knowledge necessary for the program?

No subject-specific prior knowledge is required for a Bachelor's degree program. Your interest in the subject is important, you will then receive the specialist input for this during your studies 😊

How many degree program can I apply for?

You can apply for 2 degree program in parallel at the FH Upper Austria with priority 1 and 2.

Can I get credits from the HAK, HLW or another Bachelor's program?

Crediting is agreed individually for each course with the head of degree program (if there is a cooperation with a particular school, please state this ...)
