CAREER ZONE: REQUIREMENTS FOR JOB ADVERTISEMENTS

Mandatory requirements, general recommendations and design tips

Whether or not job advertisements are published is at the discretion of the Upper Austrian University of Applied Sciences Career Zone team, which strictly observes compliance with clearly defined quality criteria. If these criteria are not met, we reserve the right to modify or completely reject advertisements.

Legitimate reasons for rejection are, for example, that

  • a main job does not require a degree according to the AMS Salary Compass (e.g. office assistant)
  • job advertisements do not contain a meaningful description of the job
  • the mandatory salary information in Austria is missing or
  • the salary is significantly below the market average for young professionals or experienced specialists
  • no remuneration is provided for internships (at least 3 months)
  • Activities over 25h/week that are declared as part-time jobs
  • the inclusive quota of full-time positions has been exhausted (applies to free recruiter profiles from 2024)

If you want to ensure that your jobs are activated and achieve the greatest possible success, please note the following:

1) Meaningful description (mandatory):

In the past, there have always been advertisements in the Career Zone that only consisted of a title and a PDF file. We must point out that we do not publish such job advertisements.

A job description is and remains mandatory. Ideally, this should include not only all tasks and requirements for the candidate, but also the minimum salary. A reference to an external link alone is not sufficient.

2) Target group academics (mandatory):

A degree from a university is more valuable than an apprenticeship or school-leaving qualification. The following two criteria must be met for advertisements for full-time positions (from 30 hours/week) to be published:

The required level of education must be at least a Bachelor's degree. In addition, the description text must not state that an apprenticeship, AHS or BHS (HAK/HTL) is sufficient to obtain the position. The requirements do not apply to part-time jobs, internships or thesis topics.

3) Note the specialization (recommendation):

The University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria educates its students in the following subject areas: Engineering and Natural Sciences; IT, Communication and Media; Management; Medical Technology and Applied Social Sciences.

Representatives of other professions, e.g. from the fields of law, tourism or health, do not use our platform. Advertising such jobs on our platform is therefore not very promising.

4) Improve performance measurement (recommendation):

We often see companies linking their own HR platforms directly in the description text of job advertisements or inviting candidates to apply via email. We advise you not to do this:

For one thing, it makes it difficult or impossible for you to track how many applications came via the Career Zone. Secondly, you will receive applications more quickly via the 3-click feature in the Career Zone.

5) Use images/graphics (optimization):

Long, text-heavy ads are less popular. In order to make your advertisements appealing, we recommend that you keep the body text short and to the point and spice it up visually with images/graphics

If you do not want to enter any text, you can also convert your PDF advertisement into an image file and insert it in the "Description" field. This way, your job advertisement remains in the corporate design, but is not responsive.

6) Use company profile (optimization):

Evaluations in the period from 24.11.2020 to 30.09.2022 (before the start of free sales) have shown that jobs from partner companies received on average twice as many clicks and approx. 50 % more applications.

This is partly due to the fact that users find more detailed information about the company in job advertisements from partners. In addition, they often come across exciting job offers when searching company profiles.

General information

We recommend that you clarify internally which people from your company should publish job advertisements in the Career Zone and bundle your recruiting activities in a shared account.

The best way to convince students of your advantages as an employer at an early stage is to advertise internships, thesis topics and part-time jobs. These types of employment are the most relevant for prospective graduates and therefore receive the most hits and applications by far.

We would like to emphasize once again that the Career Zone is the official career portal of the FH Upper Austria, which is not connected to the FH Upper Austria School of Health Professions and therefore cannot be used by its graduates. The Upper Austrian University of Applied Sciences for Health Professions is an independent university which, as far as we are currently aware, does not have its own career portal.

It is very beneficial for the number of applications if, instead of a letter of motivation, you only request a short text from interested parties and provide an e-mail address to which application documents can be sent instead of a link to your own HR platform. This significantly lowers the hurdle for potential applicants, as they can send you their CV with just a few clicks instead of having to create a profile on your platform.
