FH Upper Austria Campus Steyr now also offers logistics studies in English!
Twice as strong! Study logistics now in German or English
Previously offered exclusively in German, this expansion strengthens the course's international focus. “The ability to work in several languages is an invaluable advantage in the globally networked economy,” explains course director Oliver Schauer. “With the option of studying in German or English, we are equipping our graduates optimally for the challenges of international careers.”
First FH Upper Austria degree program in German and English
Dean Heimo Losbichler comments: “This strategic expansion of our range of courses to include three English-language business degree programs at the FH Upper Austria Campus Steyr offers both domestic and international students more choice and prepares them ideally for an international career. The International Logistics Management degree program is the first degree program at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria to be offered in German and English.”
Studies for talents from all over the world
Oliver Schauer, the course director, explains the reasons for introducing the English-language program: “We are creating a course that is attractive to both experienced students from the region and young talents from all over the world. In this way, we are representing the international character of logistics and strengthening the global orientation of our campus.” He adds that there is no difference in content between the language versions, the main difference is in the language of instruction.
Logistics specialists for the local economy
“The English-language course also enables students without any knowledge of German to study in Steyr,” Schauer continues. “They learn German during their studies, which enables them to complete their studies in German and qualify for demanding jobs in logistics within Austria. This is how we train highly sought-after specialists for the domestic economy.”

Interview with the head of the degree program FH-Prof. Dr. Oliver Schauer: “Strengthening internationality - creating opportunities for all”
Why will the course be offered in German and English from fall 2025? “We are creating a degree program that is attractive to both experienced students from the region and young talents from all over the world,” explains program director Oliver Schauer. “We are thus representing the international character of logistics and at the same time strengthening the global orientation of our campus.”
What distinguishes the German-language course from the English-language course? “There are no differences in terms of content,” emphasizes Schauer. “The only difference is the language of instruction. While all courses on the German-language program are taught in German, the English-language program is taught entirely in English.”
What advantages does the English-language course offer international students in particular? “With the English-language program, we also enable students without any knowledge of German to start their studies in Steyr,” says Schauer. “During their studies, students learn German so that they can complete the last two semesters in German. This qualifies them to take on demanding jobs in logistics in Upper Austrian and Austrian companies.”
What language requirements must students meet in order to qualify for the English-language degree course? “English language skills at B2 level are required. For German, an A2 level is sufficient at the start of the course,” explains Schauer. “If German language skills are not yet sufficient, interested students can complete the International Foundation Program of the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria to acquire the necessary language skills.”
