Open Access Policy of the FH Upper Austria
The University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria (FH OOE) follows the "Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities" and supports unrestricted and free access to scientific information on the Internet (Open Access). It attaches great importance to the high quality of scientific publications and pays attention to scientific integrity in the sense of the "Guidelines for Good Scientific Practice (GWP)"
- The FH OOE encourages its entire academic staff, part-time lecturers and all academics who research and publish as part of their guest stays at the FH OOE to publish their publications and research results in open access publication media. The associated costs are partly covered by funding bodies and by corresponding framework agreements with the respective publishers. Detailed information on Open Access is available from the libraries at each of the four FH OOE locations.
- Where open access publication is not possible, the above-mentioned groups of people are required to secure their exploitation rights or the right to secondary publication, for example in repositories. If embargo periods are necessary, these should be kept as short as possible.
- Wherever the FH OOE acts as publisher of scientific publications such as conference proceedings or monographs, Open Access is supported.
- The aim is to provide a complete version of every scientific paper produced in the course of work at the FH OOE in the publicly accessible research information system of the FH OOE.
- In order to improve the visibility of the scientific output of the FH OOE, the use of the identifier ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID), which guarantees a clear assignment to publications and research data, is expressly recommended.
- All key figures on scientific activities such as publication activity, reviewer activity or activity as an editor in connection with open access will in future be shown separately in the annual R&D activity report of the FH OOE.
The FH OOE aims to achieve an annual open access share of at least 50% of relevant publications. The Board of the FH OOE reviews the achievement of the target at regular intervals and sets new targets each time. The FH OOE ensures that this policy is compatible with the applicable data protection regulations. The free choice of publication options and freedom of research remain unaffected by these guidelines.
