Researcher spirit from Upper Austria

To successfully implement research in the long term, the continuous training and further education of employees is essential.

Young researchers in particular form the basis for future-oriented R&D. Thus, we created a multi-stage R&D career model - from internship to professorship - to provide ideal support for the career plan.

The R&D career model

Employees who decide to pursue an academic career have the opportunity both to work in a specialized field for a limited period of time as well as to pursue long-term prospects in research. PhD programs and other paths of further education or teaching activities for researchers are also supported at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria.

The classic career in Research & Development consists of the following career stages:

  • Research Assistant
  • Research Project Manager*in (RPM)
  • Senior Researcher (SR) / Excellent Expert Researcher (EER)

Based on SR/EER, a career as professor is also possible.

Dissertation program

The dissertation program is a grant funded by the province government of Upper Austria and processed by the funding agency, FFG, to encourage Master's graduates and young researchers at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria to take the next big step. PhD students are actively supported in the submission process and integrated into the organization through appropriate measures.

In addition to in-depth specialist knowledge, our employees are supported by qualified and structured training in the form of an accompanying doctoral program. The aim is to equip our students with the skills and requirements as future managers.
