Project description

The project “TGH2 – ThermoGreenHydrogen” strengthens the innovation ecosystem in the JTP region of Wels. Its objective is to develop new technologies for the production, storage and use of hydrogen and to combine these with thermoelectric waste-heat recovery. In this way, previously unused industrial waste heat will be converted into direct current and utilized for efficient and cost-effective hydrogen production.

The technology will be tested across various industrial sectors and scaled up through further cooperation with companies. The project will thus build new R&D capabilities for hard-to-electrify industries in the region and foster knowledge exchange between industry and research.

In the context of the European Green Deal, TGH2 contributes in particular to clean energy supply, industrial decarbonization, and research and innovation. Overall, the project aims to strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of Upper Austria’s economy.
