The University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria recently had the privilege of hosting a group of students from Myanmar as part of the European Mobility Programme for Myanmar (EMPM), an initiative funded by the European Union. The program aims to enhance academic exchange and cultural integration, providing students with a first-hand experience of European higher education and its diverse learning environment.
The visiting students engaged in a range of academic activities, including attending lectures, participating in research projects, and collaborating with international peers. They had the opportunity to explore Austria’s education system, interact with faculty members, and gain insights into various fields of study. Additionally, they took part in laboratory sessions, industry visits, and networking events that enriched their academic journey.
Beyond the classroom, the students embraced the cultural exchange aspect of the program. They were able to experience life in Austria, understand European social structures, and build connections with students from different backgrounds. One of the highlights of their exchange was an international cultural event where exchange students showcased their country’s culture with national dishes emphasizing the spirit of international collaboration.
Reflecting on their time in Austria, one student, Chan Nyein Htoo shared, “The university's strong emphasis on research and innovation aligned perfectly with my academic and professional goals. Additionally, Austria’s rich culture, stunning landscapes, and breathtaking mountains makes it an inspiring place to live and study.”
Another student, Thihan Htut, expressed that “working on a research project allowed me to deepen my academic knowledge, apply theoretical concepts to real-world challenges, and gain valuable insights in my field. It was a journey of challenges, discoveries, and unforgettable experiences that broadened my perspective and prepared me for future opportunities.”
The EMPM initiative aligns with the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria’s commitment to fostering global academic partnerships and promoting international mobility. By hosting students from Myanmar, the university continues to strengthen cross-border collaborations, broaden cultural perspectives, and support the personal and professional growth of young scholars.
As the EMPM program continues to grow, FH Upper Austria looks forward to welcoming more students from Myanmar and other partner countries, furthering its mission of global academic excellence and cultural understanding.
