A training system and software platform for apprenticeship training, developed by someone who works with apprentices every day: Ausbildex provides companies with a solution that supports the organization and management of apprenticeship programs while reducing administrative effort for everyone involved. This leaves more time for what matters most: training and developing young talent.
Ausbildex was founded by Romik Hamzoyan, BSc, who graduated with distinction from the MobileComputing degree program at FH Upper Austria's Hagenberg Campus in 2024. HAINZL Industriesysteme, based in Linz, will roll out the system across its operations at the end of September.
“Apprentices often lose motivation because they cannot see their own progress. Competencies and rotation schedules are buried in Excel spreadsheets, while evaluations sit in folders. Originally, I developed this solution solely for my own apprentices, but I soon realized that many training companies face the same challenge,” says Romik Hamzoyan, who works in IT apprenticeship training at TGW Logistics in Marchtrenk.
Managing the Complexity of Apprenticeship Training According to Hamzoyan, company-based apprenticeship training involves managing a wide range of information, from training progress and competency records to feedback, assessments, and documentation. With Ausbildex, he digitizes and streamlines these processes, enabling a more structured and professional approach to supporting apprentices throughout their development.
His MobileComputing studies at FH Upper Austria's Hagenberg Campus provided the foundation for this work: “That’s where you learn how to think through an application from end to end and build it in a way that people will actually use in their day-to-day work.”
HAINZL Industriesysteme Among the First Companies to Adopt the Platform Developed by Hamzoyan as an independent venture, Ausbildex is now preparing for its first rollouts in corporate apprenticeship programs.
One of the first adopters is HAINZL Industriesysteme, the internationally active technology group based in Linz.
“We want to ensure not only an outstanding training experience for our 80 apprentices across nine apprenticeship occupations, but also simplify and reduce the administrative workload for everyone involved,” explains Mag. Michaela Obermühlner, Head of Human Resources at HAINZL, outlining the company's reasons for implementing Ausbildex.
Obermühlner adds: “What convinced us about Ausbildex is that it was developed by someone with hands-on experience in apprenticeship training. Romik Hamzoyan understands the realities of the job and has created a system that addresses actual needs.”
From HAINZL's perspective, the platform is tailored to the requirements of apprenticeship training, user-friendly, and easy to implement in daily operations. By collaborating with an innovative start-up, the company also sees an opportunity to further advance its own development and digitalization efforts.
Reflecting on the onboarding phase, Obermühlner describes it as: “A process characterized by trust and immediate support from day one.”
MobileComputing Program Develops Real-World Problem Solvers Ausbildex demonstrates how skills acquired during a degree program can be directly translated into practice: a problem is identified in a real working environment, analyzed through technology, and transformed into a practical solution.
“Romik’s journey is an excellent example of what we aim to achieve with the MobileComputing program. Our graduates should not only master technology, but also use it to solve real-world problems and turn their own ideas into reality. Ausbildex brings together exactly those elements: technical expertise, practical experience, and an entrepreneurial mindset,” says FH-Prof. DI Dr. Christoph Schaffer, Head of the MobileComputing degree program at FH Upper Austria's Hagenberg Campus.
According to Schaffer, Romik Hamzoyan’s career path also illustrates that a technical degree does more than prepare graduates for a conventional career within an established company. It can also provide the foundation needed to develop innovative ideas, launch new ventures, and pursue entrepreneurial opportunities of their own.
