Latvian Master's student on a research stay at the Department of Medical Engineering
Supervision by FH-Prof. Dr. Jaroslaw Jacak
Darija Podberecka is currently completing her Master's degree at the Technical University in the Latvian capital Riga. She recently spent around four and a half months at the Department of Medical Engineering in Linz until mid-May to conduct research for her Master's thesis supervised by Professor Dr. Jaroslaw Jacak
Her thesis is titled: “How the elasticity of 2D and 3D photolithographic nanostructures is dependent on composition of the protein containing resin and why.”
Towards the end of her stay, she answered a few questions, the answers to which we are happy to provide in English as well as in Darija Podberecek's native Latvian and Russian:
1. Why did you choose our University for your research work?
I have chosen to do my internship at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria because I heard good reviews about it from my course mates who participated in the Winter School, and from my former course mate who chose to continue his studies at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria. Additionally, the university is very open to international students, and communication was fast and easy.
(LV)

2. All in all, how would you describe your internship experience at FH Upper Austria?
The internship expanded my knowledge, taught me to quickly cope with problems, communicate effectively, and plan experiments efficiently. The practice was intense, but mentors and friendly laboratory colleagues helped me overcome any challenges.
Prakse paplašināja manas zināšanas, iemācīja ātri tikt galā ar problēmām, komunicēt, plānot eksperimentus. Prakse bija intensīva, bet mentori un atsaucīgi laboratorijas kolēģi man palīdzēja visu pārvarēt. (LV)
