FH Upper Austria Expands Global Reach in 2025/2026
The University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria opened the 2025/26 academic year by celebrating its growing international community.
Beginning with the Welcome Morning on September 16th, students from around the globe joined activities across the university’s four campuses—Steyr, Wels, Hagenberg, and Linz—designed to help first-semester students settle in, connect with peers, and explore the vibrant, multicultural environment that defines FH Upper Austria. From campus tours and info sessions to informal networking events, Welcome Week provided a first glimpse into life at one of Austria’s most internationally diverse institutions.
Throughout the week, first-semester students participated in campus tours, informative academic sessions, and casual get-togethers in the campus courtyards. These events not only familiarized them with study programs, university structures, and support services, but also provided the opportunity to meet their lecturers, administration staff, and future classmates over coffee and conversation. A sense of eager expectation filled the relaxed and friendly campus environment.
This year, FH Upper Austria welcomed a diverse international student body across all four campuses, with approximately 500 first-semester international students coming from more than 70 countries. Students arrived from neighbouring European countries such as Germany, Serbia, Romania, Hungary, Croatia, Albania, and Italy, as well as from more distant regions including India, Iran, Oman, the Philippines, Ethiopia, and Sri Lanka. Representing a wide range of academic fields—from businessand management to engineering, digital technology, media, health, and social sciences—these students contribute to the university’s vibrant, multicultural learning environment and strengthen its reputation as one of Austria’s most internationally diverse institutions.
As these students settle into their studies, they become part of a university that thrives on innovation, diversity, and global collaboration. Welcome Week was more than an introduction to university life—it was a celebration of new beginnings, shared ambitions, and the international spirit that defines FH Upper Austria.
