Documents issued in one of the following countries do not need to be specially legalized. Still, either original documents or notarized copies will be required when granted admission to a degree program.

Legalization with an Apostille

Documents issued in states which are members of the “Hague Convention" need to be verified with a so-called Apostille. 
In general, the corresponding Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in several countries also the Ministry of Justice or the Ministry of Education are administering the verification with an Apostille. 
Please note: the Apostille needs to confirm the signature on the original document. If you get the Apostille on a notarized copy, only the signature of the notary will be confirmed. This will not be correct and cannot be accepted.

Full diplomatic legalization

Documents issued in countries not mentioned above must be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country and the Austrian Embassy or Consulate responsible for that country.
