Language Skills & Certificates
Demonstrating proficient language skills is essential for actively engaging in your chosen degree program. Depending on the degree you opt for, you will need to demonstrate your language proficiency for the program by either undergoing a language test or submitting an official language certificate that tests language skills in an academic context.
We do accept the following language certificates:
German B2
- Higher Secondary school-leaving certificate from Austria, Germany, Switzerland, South Tyrol or Liechtenstein
- Austrian Language Diploma - ÖSD Certificate B2
- Austrian Integration Fonds - B2-ÖIF-Test
- Goethe Institute – Goethe Certificate B2
- telc Deutsch B2 oder telc Deutsch B2 + Profession
- German language examination DSH1
- German Language Diploma DSD II
- Test "Deutsch als Fremdsprache (Test DaF)", TDN 3 level in all sections
- Certificate of successfully passing the supplementary B2 level German examination at an Austrian university
- Proof of a minimum of two years of studying in German at an university or comparable post-secondary educational institution
- This doesn’t apply to you if you are from a German-speaking country, such as Germany, Liechtenstein or Switzerland.
English B2
- Higher Secondary school-leaving certificate from the Austria, the European Union or Switzerland
- TOEFL iBT 78
- IELTS (general or academic) 6.0
- Cambridge English: First (FCE-B2), CAE (Certificate in Advanced English), CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English), BEC Higher (Business English Certificate Higher)
- PTE Academic 62
- IB diploma with subject English at HL
We understand that your school and/or university courses might have been fully taught in English, however FH Upper Austria has a language policy where all applicants (with the exception of nationalities of USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand) are required to produce an official language certificate.
Please note: confirmations from schools, universities or ministries stating English as medium of instruction will not be accepted! We do not accept Duolingo, Babbel, ...
