Austrian equivalents of your qualifications
It can be confusing to determine the Austrian equivalent of your international school or university certificate.
The anabin database offers first information on the equivalency of international education qualifications to German qualifications (German only). Please note that for Austria there might be differences for certain countries.

IB Diploma
• 6 independent subjects with minimum grade 3
• 3 subjects must be at Higher Level HL, the others at Standard Level SL
• Total sum of 24 points (incl. TOK and CAS)
GCSE, IGCSE, A-Levels
• At least 4 academic subjects which are independent from each other
• 3 subjects at Advanced Level and subject-relevant to the foreseen field of studies, 1 subject shall be passed on the GCSE or the IGCSE level, respectively.
• Passing grades A*, A, B, or C.
• Mathematics must be at A-Level
Each application is individual
Some international qualifications are considered equal to an Austrian secondary school-leaving certificate and grant access to an Austrian university. There are bilateral agreements with some countries and official conversion tables for others. And we have agreements with universities worldwide about approved course content and syllabi.
In case your school education is not considered equal, additional requirements might apply, as one year of studying or similar, i.e.

Sometimes, even if you meet the formal admission requirements, acceptance to a study program cannot be granted. This might be due to limited places or other factors (interview results or similar).
