Student Mobility Traineeships SMT

Students and recent graduates can use Erasmus+ to complete one or more funded traineeships in program countries.

Duration of Traineeships Abroad

Erasmus+ supports traineeships of between two and a total of twelve months per study cycle (Bachelor, Master, PhD). Participants can do several placements as long as the total duration does not exceed one year.

Funding Rates for Erasmus+ Traineeships

The length of the grant and the monthly grant amount varies depending on the host country and social need. Students with fewer opportunities (student grant recipients, students with children, students with disabilities) receive an additional monthly grant and are supported for the entire duration of their stay.

A one-time subsidy is provided for the use of environmentally friendly means of transport.

Requirements for an Erasmus+ Internship Abroad

Students and recent graduates can apply for an Erasmus+ traineeship abroad.

• Students must be enrolled at an eligible Austrian higher education institution. The higher education institution must consider the planned internship as relevant to the studies. The prerequisite for this is that the organisation offering the internship has a connection to the content of the respective applicant's studies.

The application for funding of an internship abroad is always made by the home university - not the student.

• Graduates can complete an internship abroad within one year of graduation. They must apply for this during their studies - at their home university. They must not be enrolled in a further degree programme. The internship is intended to facilitate the transition into professional life.
