International Days in Social Work 2025, 9 - 13 June 2025
More than 100 students and lecturers participated in the International Days in Social Work at the FH Upper Austria Linz Campus in June: 81 international students and lecturers from the field of social work and around 30 students from the in-house master's degree program Social Work. The lecturers and students came from Armenia, Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Sweden, The Netherlands and the USA.
15 lectures and workshops took place, covering a wide range of different areas of social work. The World Café was especially well received on the first day with a presentation of all universities and countries including regional specialties.
The visitors also showed great interest in site visits to and presentations from different organisations:
LENA (Social Work with sex workers)
Aids Hilfe (Counselling Center)
SOS Human rights (social work with asylum seekers)
Neustart (Social Work with Offenders)
Caritas Wärmestube (Day Center for homeless people)
Exit Sozial (forensic residential facility)
Verein ISI (Outreach Work)
The week before the international days took place, an additional program for our guests from Canada was organised - students and lecturers from University of the Fraser Valley. Highlights during this week were visits to Garsten Prison and Lebenshilfe Steyr as well as visits to various social institutions such as Prevention Center (Counselling for Female Victims), Verein Substanz (Substance Abuse & Harm Reduction Counselling Center) and Notschlafstelle B37 (Night/Sleeping Shelter for Homeless People.)
The social program included a ride with Austria’s steepest cog railway up to the famous mountain Schafbergand a trip by boat on Lake Wolfgangsee. There was also enough time to explore the beautiful village of St. Wolfgang.
