On the occasion of the graduation of the 1,000th graduate of the Mechatronics & Business Management degree program (MEWI), a special event was held as part of the “Theoprax im Audimax” lecture series, which is powered by study programs AMM, IPM and MEWI.
The invited speaker Heinz Hollerweger lectured and discussed with numerous graduates and students about the dramatic changes in the mobility industry and the related traffic turnaround. Heinz Hollerweger is considered a proven expert in the mobility industry and can look back on an extremely successful career in the automotive sector. Among other things, he was head of development at Audi AG and also managing director of Audi quattro GmbH.
In his speech, the likeable charismatic pointed out the change in the importance of mobility for society and the image change of the automobile in a fact-based manner. Based on the explanation of the pain points of mobility and related technological developments, Hollerweger impressively showed possible mobility alternatives of the future, whereby an emotionally charged micromobility is of great importance in this context. However, Hollerweger pointed out in the course of a lively discussion that a global significant traffic turnaround by 2050 would be very difficult to achieve due to a lack of regulatory framework conditions and long cycle times for transport modes.
