‘Theoprax at Audimax’ is a series of lectures and presents examples on best practices on a regularly base. On 25th November 2022 Dr. Thomas Hackl, COO at Hofer Powertrain, provided valuable insights into current and future developments in hybrid and electric drives for high-performance sports cars.
Hofer Powertrain is an established and independent partner of the mobility industry and has been providing pioneering technologies and products to firms worldwide. The company has been specialised in the development, industrialisation, and production of powertrain systems.
During his presentation Thomas Hackl gave remarkable insights into hybrid and electric architectures above 1000 hp and up to 500 kph. The H8-DCT-850 hybrid transmission with integrated axial flux motor was presented as the basis architecture in this field. Based on that Hackl explained the highly interested audience an all-new architecture to enable a top speed of up to 500 kph. Moreover, the next generation of the ULTEVATE Platform for Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) drivelines was presented, which enables up to 800kW on one axle. In the last part of the presentation, Hackl gave the students highly interesting insights into cutting edge technologies for future applications, like Form Litz Wire Winding technology and Multi-Level-Inverter. After his presentation, Hackl answered the numerous, and in some cases very well-founded questions from the ranks of the AMM and MEWI students with great pleasure.
“It's great when proven experts from the field provide our students with such in-depth insights into such exciting topics. This multifaceted networking of our degree programs with industry is highly appreciated by our students and is certainly a success factor of our university. Thank you very much, Dr. Hackl, for your lecture," summarized Kurt Gaubinger at the end of the event.
