AMM & IPM @ Munich: Excursion to leading companies in the automotive industry
As part of a two-day field trip, students from the international master degree programs Automotive Mechatronics & Management (AMM) and Innovation & Product Management (IPM) gained valuable insights into the development and production processes of BMW and MAN.
Within of a two-day excursion, 30 students of the master's programs AMM and IPM visited the main plant of BMW AG as well as the MAN plant in Munich under the guidance of Dr. Kurt Gaubinger (Head of Studies AMM) and Dr. Christian Zehetner (Professor for product development).
During a guided tour of BMW Group Plant 1, the students got their view into selected production areas of automobile manufacturing. Among others, the models of the 3 and 4 series as well as the electric i4 are produced in this plant. After an additional visit to the BMW Museum, the day was appropriately reflected at the Augustiner Stammhaus in the evening;-)
The next day, the students were given an experience tour of the main plant of MAN Truck & Bus Germany. The Munich plant manufactures heavy-duty series TGS and TGX. After an invitation by MAN to lunch, the students were given unique insights, among other things, into the topic of "autonomous driving systems in commercial vehicles: status quo and future" as part of presentations by Dr.-Ing. Sven Kraus as well as Dipl.Ing. Florian Kremser, who, in addition to their full-time jobs at MAN, are also lecturers at the FHOÖ School of Engineering.
“On behalf of all the participants of this excursion, I would like to thank Dr. Kremser in particular for organizing this "MAN Experience Day" and for the unique insights into the exciting commercial vehicle industry,”, concludes Prof. Gaubinger.
