Maternity

This regulation is valid for all laboratory rules!

Women must inform their superior or superviser or the relevant study programme office assistant as soon as they know they are pregnant.
Expectant and breast-feeding mothers are protected by Maternity Protection Law. This law covers:
• working hours (daily, weekly, evening)
• mechanical activities (lifting of heavy objects, the possibility to sit down)
• environmental influences (noise, chemical/biological substances, electricity, powerful lasers)

After declaration of pregnancy an appropriate information sheet is issued in which the essential legal conditions and provisions are summarised. Furthermore pregnant students and breast-feeding mothers must inform the respective course teacher/superviser of laboratory classes and practicals about the pregnancy or need to breast-feed. The course teacher can then decide whether or not to exclude the student partly or wholly from the course on the basis of the statutory regulations/legal requirements.
