The CRF Steyr program discusses a Performance Measurement Model with FC Bayern Munich.
Graduate Martin Kern attracts the attention of FC Bayern Munich financial experts: His master's thesis presents an innovative Performance Measurement Model for football enterprises.
Football fans around the world know that FC Bayern Munich is one of the most successful clubs in the industry. However, now Martin Kern, a graduate of the Controlling, Accounting, and Financial Management program, has caught the attention of the club's financial experts. Within the scope of his master's thesis, focused on the evaluation and performance measurement of football enterprises and supervised by Prof. Heimo Losbichler, Martin Kern has developed a Performance Measurement Model for football enterprises. The fact that FC Bayern Munich officials were willing to discuss Kern's model is a clear indication of the potential and relevance of his work. The Performance Measurement Model, unlike other models, offers a season-spanning and sample-independent evaluation, allowing football enterprises to analyze their performance and financial situation in a well-founded manner.
The model is based on a solid scientific foundation and has been implemented into an interactive Power BI dashboard in collaboration with Jakob Furthlehner, also a CRF student. This dashboard allows constant updating and adjustment of the model to meet the specific needs of football enterprises. The first joint discussion between the "CRF" program and FC Bayern Munich's financial decision-makers has yielded promising results. Follow-up meetings have been scheduled, indicating an interest in collaboration with the "Controlling, Accounting, and Financial Management" program.
Martin Kern has demonstrated with his work that one does not need to be a football professional to attract the attention of a top club like FC Bayern Munich. His digital Performance Measurement Model could open up new possibilities for other clubs to analyze and optimize their financial performance.
