How do the more than 500 newly enrolled students start their studies?
This year, our new students will once again start with various welcome events to help them get to know each other and build a team. These include joint lunches, team activities and more. A special highlight is the Career Festival with the Semester Opening Party, which is being organized on campus for the fourth time. Here, students have the opportunity to make new contacts and view exciting job offers at the careers fair in advance. Representatives of the city of Steyr will also introduce our new students to the city and its highlights at the official welcome event on October 4.
Will there be new faces in the management team of the faculty in Steyr from the fall?
Yes, there are some significant changes: Prof. Dr. René Riedl is taking over as interim head of the Digital Business Management master's program. Riedl, Professor of Digital Businessand Innovation, is also the Scientific Director of the Society for Neuro-Information Systems and Associate Professor at the JKU. He has been the new program director since September 1. He has been the new program director since September 1. In his new role as Vice President for Digitalization, Andreas Auinger, the founding father of DBM, will drive forward numerous new and existing projects at all four faculties of the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria. The new Master's degree course in Human Resource Management will be led by Dr. Silke Preymann. Preymann has been working at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria since 2013 and was most recently Head of the Department of University Research and Development and Academic Director of the Diversity Department.
Last but not least, there will be two interesting innovations relating to mobility at Campus Steyr. What are they?
With the Domino project, we are setting a strong example for sustainability. This initiative promotes carpooling and a more efficient use of resources within the campus community.Domino was developed by researchers at Campus Steyr and is now available to all students, staff and members of the campus community. We cordially invite everyone to participate! We have also extended the number of parking spaces in the Wieserfeld garage for students. Here, too, there is a car-sharing model that saves costs and makes more efficient use of the parking spaces.Furthermore, the range of student accommodation around the campus has been significantly expanded in recent years. There are numerous student residences and apartments suitable for shared apartments available, so that “living in Steyr” is often a better option than commuting every day.
We wish all students a good start to the new semester and every success in their upcoming exams!
