What makes the DBM program so special compared to other programs?
It was only after I graduated that I learned, through discussions with professors, how frequently the curriculum is evaluated and, if necessary, adapted to the fast-moving digital world. This still impresses me today, as it ensures that the topics are up to date. I took a lot of good literature and valuable contacts with me from my studies, from which I still benefit today and which I always like to come back to. The interaction and the exchange beyond the study period make the DBM Master and the FH Steyr something special for me.
What did I personally gain from the course for my professional future?
Probably the biggest plus point for me was the combination of a job and part-time studies. This made content more tangible and newly acquired knowledge could literally be put into practice the next week.
Which topics were of particular interest to me on the course?
I was interested in management and strategy right from the start, so I was particularly interested in the courses that dealt with these topics. As a manager, you never stop learning anyway, so I am still happy to continue my education on these topics through coaching, management exams and online courses.
What did I particularly like about the DBM program?
At the risk of giving the standard answer, the business trip was definitely a highlight for me. We were able to get to know interesting companies in a great group with professors and fellow students and also got to know a new city. What inspired me the most was the exchange with each other and still does today. My small but very fine group of fellow students, who literally accompanied me from day one of my studies, are still my go-to people for a wide variety of topics. To be honest, they are much more than that and are some of my closest friends.
In retrospect, was the DBM course the right choice?
The course was definitely the right choice for me. At the time, I decided to study alongside my full-time job with an all-in contract. Would I do it again today? With everything I know today, probably not. I would probably reduce my working hours a little. Am I still glad I did it in this combination? Definitely, because I'm sure that otherwise I wouldn't be where I am today in my career.
