Requirements - University Entrance

The following requirements must be met for acceptance in one of the university’s degree programs:

Bachelor's Degree

To enroll in a University of Applied Sciences (UAS) bachelor’s program, you need to have a recognized secondary school leaving certificate. There are various types of qualifications that make you eligible to study at a UAS. We have listed a few examples for you below.
If you are unsure whether you meet the admission requirements, we encourage you to apply anyway. Each application is assessed individually, and you will quickly receive a qualified response!

  • Matura
Completed at a general or vocational higher secondary school in Austria
  • IB Diploma/Abitur/South Tyrolean School Leaving Certificate
These qualifications legally or bilaterally grant access to universities and universities of applied sciences.
  • International School Leaving Certificates
International qualifications can be considered equivalent to the Austrian Matura, granting university access. At the FH OÖ, every application with an international qualification is carefully evaluated. If the foreign qualification is not equivalent, we offer the opportunity to complete a preparatory year IFP.
  • International Foundation Program IFP
In case you do not meet the minimum admission requirements you can join the IFP and gain extra knowledge to upgrade you school certificate. Please see the website www.fh-ooe.at/ifp for detailed program information.

For some degree programs, additional criteria such as subject-specific relevance may need to be met alongside the school-leaving certificate. Detailed information can be found on the respective program’s website.

Master's Degree

To qualify for admission to a University of Applied Sciences (UAS) master’s program, you need to have completed a scientifically related bachelor’s degree from a recognized domestic or international institution.

When applying for a master’s program at FH Upper Austria, your prior studies will be evaluated to determine if they formally and substantively qualify you for admission. Please note that some master’s programs require additional qualifications, such as sufficient credits in specific subjects. Detailed information about these requirements can be found on the program's website!

FH Upper Austria offers master’s programs in both full-time and part-time formats. You can pursue your master’s degree immediately after completing your bachelor’s studies or choose to do so later, after gaining work experience.

The master’s program at FH Upper Austria takes four semesters to complete, also for part-time students.
