For admission to a bachelor's degree program at the university of applied sciences, a university entrance qualification acquired or recognized in Austria is required. 
The entry requirements for a master's degree programm at the university of applied sciences are the completion of a simple bachelor's degree or the completion of an equivalent or higher degree (e.g. diploma degree) at a recognized domestic or foreign university. 

If you are not sure whether you meet the entry requirements, we advise you to apply anyway. Each application is reviewed individually and you will receive qualified information quickly!

Bachelor's degree program

There are various types of school-leaving certificates that qualify you for studying at a university of applied sciences. We’ve listed a few examples for you. If you are unsure whether you meet the admission requirements, we recommend that you apply anyway. Each application is reviewed individually, and you will receive a qualified response quickly!
For some degree programs, additional criteria, such as subject-specific qualifications, may be required alongside your school-leaving certificate. Detailed information can be found on the respective program’s website.

International secondary school certificates

International school-leaving certificates can be considered equivalent to an Austrian school-leaving examination (Matura), granting access to higher education. At FH Upper Austria, every application with an international educational background is carefully reviewed.

International Foundation Program IFP

If the foreign school certificate is not deemed equivalent, we offer the opportunity to complete a preparatory year – the International Foundation Program

Austrian secondary school-leaving certificate Matura or Berufsreifeprüfung (BRP)

Matura is obtained at a general or vocational higher secondary school in Austria, the Berufsreifeprüfung can be obtained in Austria after completing an apprenticeship or a vocational middle school. It qualifies you to pursue studies at a university or a university of applied sciences.

IB Diploma/EB Diploma/GCSE or IGCSE A-levels

Your International Baccalaureat (IB Diploma) or your European Baccalaureat (EB) is considered equal to an Austrian secondary school-leaving certificate and entitles you to start a Bachelor's degree program. 
A-levels (GCSE or IGCSE) with specific grading and subject-related offer direct admission to a Bachelor's degree program. See the specific requirements here.
 

Which documents do I need?

Please have the following documents ready in digital form and upload them when applying online! In some cases, you can submit the required documents at a later date, for example if you do not yet have a school-leaving certificate at the time of application.

Please give an overview of your education, your professional positions and your skills.

Additional documents

Depending on the chosen study program you may need to have additional documents ready, such as language certificates, portfolios, etc.
If you have already started or completed a different study program, please upload the award certificate and/or proof of grades.

Master's degree program

When applying for a Master's program at FH Upper Austria, your previous studies will be assessed to determine whether they formally and substantively qualify you for admission. Please note that certain Master's programs may have additional requirements (e.g., a sufficient number of credits in specific subject areas). Detailed information on these requirements can be found on the respective program’s website.

FH Upper Austria offers Master's programs both as full-time and part-time (while working) study options. You can pursue your Master's degree directly after completing your Bachelor's degree or choose to start later, after gaining professional experience.

International undergraduate degree

With an international undergraduate degree, you can apply for a master's degree at the FH Upper Austria. There are a few things to consider , which we have listed for you here:

FH OOE Bachelor's degree

Every FH OOE Bachelor degree program has a consecutive Master degree program! Top-up your academic education to expert level with the corresponding master program. If you want to pursue a FH OOE master program from a different faculty please see the website of the study program for detailed information on specific requirements (e.g., bridging courses) or contact directly the staff!

Bachelor's degree of a different Austrian University or University of Applied Sciences

Educational documents

Please provide all educational documents as school-leaving certificates, diplomas and mark sheet of university studies, documentation of further education, etc. Please always upload all pages (front and back) in original language and translations, if applicable.
