LibKey Nomad Browser Extension
Developed by Third Iron, this browser extension is available for Firefox, Chrome, MS Edge, Brave, and Vivaldi and can be downloaded here.
Once activated, the tool automatically detects whether an article is provided by our library or available via open access – all while you are researching on academic journal websites or platforms such as Scopus, PubMed, Wikipedia or other sites and databases.
LibKey Nomad checks both our licensed collection and freely available Open Access versions. Whenever a match is found, a button appears that takes you directly to the PDF version with just one click.
LibKey Nomad supports users who begin their research outside the library, while seamlessly guiding them back to the library's resources and services, triggering authentication (your University credentials) when needed.
Benefits of LibKey Nomad:
- Speed: Direct access to full texts without having to search the library catalog separately.
- Flexibility: Works across the web, even within bibliographic lists (e.g., Wikipedia references).
- Convenience: Automatically identifies Open Access alternatives if we don’t have a license.
Get Started in Three Steps:
- Install: Download the LibKey Nomad extension for your preferred browser.
- Select Library: Search for and select FH OÖ | Fachhochschule Oberösterreich in the extension settings.
- Research: Keep an eye out for the red LibKey banner at the bottom of your screen or directly under citations while you browse.
Privacy & Security LibKey Nomad works securely with your University credentials and does not store your personal login information. For more details, please see the LibKey Privacy Statement.
No full text available? If you need a specific article or book that is not available online, do search in PRIMO for print media and use inter library loan and reduced cost article orders.
Please check PRIMO and the library homepage for details.
