International Studies: A Student from Vietnam Shares His Experience in Steyr
From Vietnam’s heat to Steyr’s winter – talk about an adventure!
GSM Triple degree student 2025/26: Quoc Huu Vu aus Vietnam
INTERVIEW QUESTIONS TRIPLE DEGREE
Could you briefly introduce yourself and your background (home university, field of study)?
Hi, my name is Vu Quoc Huu from Vietnam. I joined the Triple Degree Program for the Master’s in Global Salesand Marketing (GSM), which is a collaboration between FH OÖ in Austria, CETYS University in Mexico, and the Vietnamese-German University in Vietnam.
What motivated you to join the Triple Degree Program?
The Triple Degree is a unique study program that allows you to study at three universities across three different continents. For me, it’s an incredible opportunity to explore the world, experience different cultures, and learn about diverse business environments. It also aligns perfectly with my career goal of working in an international environment.
What are your expectations for your time in Steyr—academically and personally?
I’ve heard a lot from colleagues about the academic environment in Steyr, so I expect it to be stricter and more professional. This semester also includes some of the courses most closely related to marketing, so I’m really looking forward to the knowledge I’ll gain here. On a personal level, I know the winter semester will be very cold. Coming from a tropical country, I’m both nervous and excited to experience that kind of weather. Fingers crossed I’ll not only survive but also enjoy it!
What advice would you give other students who might be interested in an exchange like this?
This year has been wonderful—flying and studying all over the world. At first, the idea of living in three different countries sounded exhausting and intimidating, but my advice is: don’t be afraid. Embrace the challenge, immerse yourself in new cultures, and you’ll realize that’s an important part of studying too.
What are you most excited to experience in Austria (culture, food, nature, etc.)?
I’ve heard that hiking is almost like a national sport here. It’s not something I usually do, and I know it can be tough, but I definitely want to give it a try and enjoy Austria’s beautiful nature.
What’s one fun fact about you that most people don’t know?
Most of my friends know I’m a tea person, but not many know that my family actually grows and sells coffee.
If you could bring one thing from Vietnam to Steyr (besides family and friends), what would it be?
My rice cooker. I really need my rice, and it would be so much easier than cooking it in a saucepan every day :)))
